Lea had one foot on a badly aligned brick, one wedged into the corner, and eight feet of thin air under his butt when he noticed the barbed wire strung along the top of the wall.

"Oh, no way!"

Way, the stuff suggested, refusing to vanish. Lea chanced a look down; he wasn't getting back the way he came without a nasty fall, that was for sure. And this building had looked so awesome from the outside: tall, forbidding, sort of industrial, ten-foot-tall walls around it, like absolutely nothing back home. Not that there was much here that reminded him of Radiant Garden. Maybe that fountain in the middle of the town--

The brick under his toes shifted, and a spill of dust made its way down to the ground below. Lea blanched. Next time he was totally wearing a jacket, he thought, and yanked his scarf off to toss it over the wire. It looked thin, but the brick was threatening to fall out, and concrete would hurt way more. He hooked his fingers over the thickest bit of scarf, and, in a scrambling leap, hurled himself up.

Of course there wasn't anything on the other side to jump down onto. He shook out one hand - it wasn't bleeding, but he'd felt those points all right - and took a deep breath.

Halfway through turning around to let himself down on the inside of the factory wall, one of his feet slipped, his shin came right down on the barbed wire, and in the scramble to take his weight off it Lea and his scarf rolled right off into thin air. He made a grab for the edge, just managed it, and swung down and into the wall hard enough to force all his breath out in a huff.

On the other side of the wall, his foothold fell out and smashed onto the concrete.

Today sucked.

Feeling anticlimactic, Lea wriggled his toes in thin air, took a breath, and let go. He landed in a neat crouch right on top of his scarf, which would've made up for the rest of it if only somebody had been watching.

Since nobody was, he picked his scarf up and shook the dust out before checking the scrapes on his shin. Nothing too bad. The scarf wasn't ripped (maybe there were one or two tiny holes), so he'd gotten into a freaky walled-off factory that looked like it hadn't made a thing in years and the only damage was a little scrape. Why worry about the stupid brick? It was on the other side of the wall anyway, so he couldn't have used it to get out.

Sneaking in had been a complete success!

Now to explore – but first... he pulled out his Dreamberry, aimed it at the looming building, and set it to video.

“First person to tell me something cool about this place is the winner! It's all walled off--” he swung around to get a quick shot of the walls from an impressive standing-right-at-the-bottom angle-- “not that that was a problem for yours truly! There's got to be something in there worth locking up, though. What do you think? Weapons? Records? Treasure?

Whatever, if you want to get a first hand look, I'm over in the industrial district. I bet I can get the gate open for you if you don't wanna take a crack at the walls. If you're too much of a wuss to come see for yourself, I promise I'll take plenty of pictures!”

He snickered and flipped the device closed, stowing it back in a pocket. Maybe somebody would actually take him up on it, and if not, well, he'd still gotten in all by himself and that was awesome.

“C'mon, Isa,” he muttered, and set off to see if the factory's front door was locked. “Hurry up and get here already.” You don't wanna miss this!

Isa would've definitely come up with something sarcastic in response. Lea didn't bother thinking of it. It just wasn't the same.

Instead, he checked the front door (locked), stood back, and started trying to figure out how hard it would be to break a window.
